In this session, we will explore the challenges surrounding plagiarism and practical steps to avoid it. You will also be introduced to the fundamentals of referencing and discover simple tools that can make the process easier. The aim is to help you understand the principles of referencing and build confidence as you prepare for your next assignment.
By the end of this session students should be able to:
- Understand what constitutes plagiarism and practical steps to avoid it
- Understand why and when to reference others in academic work
- Understand when to use in-text citations or footnotes and how this relates to the reference list
