Resistance Researching: How to Dismantle a Library In-Person

Join us for a hands-on workshop looking at how books are classified, catalogued and disseminated across library shelves. We will map these structures digitally using creative search terms and the online library catalogue.

We spend a lot of time talking about the best ways to search using the library tools without being critical of the library system itself. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, it may be the library system itself at fault.

Through group discussion and activities this workshop aims to:

  • build a critical awareness of the colonial systems that underpin the library as an information system

  • find creative ways to subvert these knowledge paradigms using multiple and varied research strategies

This workshop is part of the ‘Resistance Researching’ series which supports the Liberate our Library initiative, as part of Liberate Our Degree.
