Job shadowing - Discovery Services In-Person
Discovery Services is responsible for acquiring and managing access to all print and electronic resources for the Library. We catalogue all library material to ensure it is discoverable through our Library catalogue - Library Search. The vast majority of our books are pre-processed by our main suppliers to ensure that once received, they are available on the shelves as quickly as possible. However, where we need to purchase items quickly or they arrive as donations these items are unprocessed and need to be manually catalogued.
Here's one I made earlier – Become a librarian, learning our tricks and trades - in this session you will learn how we process library materials and then have a go at doing it yourself following our guidelines.
